Shot a buck this morning... lost him
Shot him at 10:15. I trail him 75+ yards. Bleeding profusely. Unfortunately he went down a steep hill, and I can't follow the trail any farther. I have to wait until Greg gets here to help me, he's coming from Knoxville. Seems like everyone else I've called is busy or can't come. This is what really sucks when you have to hunt out of a dang wheelchair. I wish now I just let him walk. It's a high rack five or six point. Not huge, but decent in this part of the country.
Greg and my son looked for the deer for over 4 hours. He bled real good at first, then slowed down to a drop here and there. Last drop of blood was found by accident on our way out as he traveled 400+ yards, and crossed the road. We think he may have been headed to the river, but we aren't sure. The arrow came out about 100 yards into the tracking at which time the blood trail slowed significantly. I wonder if I hit him low in the chest (he was facing me) and the brisket turned the arrow into his shoulder area? No bubbles in the blood. I hate wounding a deer, but hopefully he'll heal up.

It's possible I may have hit a little low at the sternum stopping the penetration. We found the arrow about hundred yards and the Spit Fire blades were messed up.

Bro we tried hard almost 5 hours of looking and the deer had plenty of time to lay down before i got there. That deer never laid down any were. I dont believe he will die, based on blood and how far he had gone. Plus making to the river. I think it was a no mortal hit.
I am sorry Bro, but we will get after it on Friday and Saturday

Sorry you lost him...but it happens. It seems to me that you gave everything you had to recover, and in the end that's what matters most!
