What is the 2.80 COAL?

Seated 3 to 5000 off the lands I assume?
Re: Pulling on Ol' Blue tonight
On these particular 2 Rem 700 rifles I honestly can't remember how long the throat is but they shoot absolutely lights out loaded to standard book COAL so that's all I do any more. I'll measure again one day soon and this time I'll write it down (surely I already have it written in one of my manuals)

LOL you of all people know EXACTLY what I mean! Some folks prefer a lot of bullet "jump", weatherby is famous for being deep throated. Weatherby does it to get the velocity higher but typically it comes at the expense of accuracy. I on the other hand, prefer to almost kiss the lands. To each his own. My advice would be to start low and watch for pressure signs when loading close to the lands.

I've got a Remington Model 770 in 30-06 that has over .100" jump using Nosler 150 gr Accubonds and Ballistic tips. If I tried to reach the lands the bullet would be nearly out of the case.

We don’t have a blue, but I’ve got 2 greens going. Gonna have to get something better if I do many more of these 9mm

Re: Pulling on Ol' Blue tonight
Jason, my Dillon really shines when I load pistol ammo or .223 for the ARs and especially with ball powder. I can crank out 400+ rounds per hour when I'm on my game. Stick powder can be a little of a nuisance in the powder drop sometimes.
For accuracy I hand weigh my charges and use the press as more of a hybrid single stage with only the neck sizer and seating dies in the toolhead.

I doubt I can ever justify a Dillon, but I’ll find a turret press eventually if I do a lot of pistol ammo. This is just something to get busy with lol. Got my daughter helping. I’m running the sizer and she’s expanding
