Re: Cleaning BH Breech Plug??
So do you use the drill or just use the bit to push through?
I know how dumb question this is, but I want to make sure.

Re: Cleaning BH Breech Plug??
I customized my own standard breech plugs by drilling them out and inserting a liner. The liner was a 10-24 ss screw that I drilled thru with a .030 drill bit. I made several different ones, using socket head, Phillips and straight flathead screws, mostly to just see if one was better at dispersing the fire from the primer into the powder. I think the star pattern from the Phillips head better disperses the flame.

You should be able to get an 1/8 drill bit in the primer side. Turn it by hand. If you use blackhorn take a q tip and wipe out the powder side. The hole on powder side I never tried to clean.Tngrizzly_ wrote: ↑Sat Jan 01, 2022 2:59 am BH209, something like this one.

I’ve got an old bottle of Hoppes #9. I just drop the plug in it and let it sit. Sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for a few days. When I decide to clean it I use the above mentioned bits and methods.

Re: Cleaning BH Breech Plug??
on the soaking, I do the same. I made a wire hanger from a paper clip to hold on from the edge of the bottle and for ease of retrieval
Re: Cleaning BH Breech Plug??
An old medicine bottle works great for soaking too
